  1. Please could you explain what happens if I already have a contractor who is about to demolish my home?

  2. A lot depends on which city your home is in:
Many cities have strict recycling & diversion requirements that either can’t be met by “conventional” demolition or could end up costing you more due to forfeited “recycling” bonds or deposits. Some cities even offer reduced and/or waived permit fees by deconstructing instead of demolishing.
    Also,
There are tremendous tax benefits to recycling and/or donating the reusable building materials, fixtures, and lumber.

These benefits include a tax deductible donation receipt (which I’ve seen over $300,000) that in some cases can offset a fair portion of your “new” construction costs.

By deconstructing rather than demolishing your home, you might pay a little more in upfront costs but by the end of the project you would be at a tremendous financial advantage to deconstruct the house and reap the benefits that you deserve. In doing so, you also “do the right thing” by doing “green” demolition, reducing the solid waste stream (keeping the materials out of the landfills), and helping those less fortunate by donating to a non-profit organization.

I must also make you aware that the government does not allow the tax benefit by donating to just any “non-profit organization”. There is certain criteria that these organizations must meet including being a 501(c)3 organization with specific writing within their “Mission Statement” to be recognized for your tax deductible benefit.

We began Demolishing buildings over 15 years ago and started the deconstruction aspect of our business 8 years ago. So, unlike other Deconstruction Contractors, we also offer the advantage of deconstruction (or demolition) of the house and demolition & recycling of the foundation, sitework, and landscaping.

I’d like to go over more benefits and any other information that you may need including the Bay Area Air Quality Management District notification (which must be done prior to the start of any demolition/deconstruction). We work with many contractors throughout Northern California and would love to offer a proposal to your existing Contractor to either Deconstruct or Demolish your home.

Once again thanks for your inquiry and I look forward to hearing from you.

    Regards,

    Tony Valera
